Musk and the xAI team said Grok's "unique and fundamental advantage" is that it gains real-time knowledge of the world through the platform X. Grok was designed with a touch of wit and rebellion to answer questions in an original manner. This makes it different from other chatbots such as ChatGPT.
Grok is built on top of Grok-1, xAI's LLM, which has 33 billion parameters, and is said to be as capable as Meta's LLaMA 2, which supports 70 billion parameters. In comparison, it is only outperformed in tests by models that were trained using significantly larger amounts of training data and computing resources, such as GPT-4.
